Camp Thread

[Alphess Forest]

The young Alphess was alone in camp, her brother and the elite, Oak, had gone to patrol the borders. It wasn't had to imagine him being leader rather than her; they were both young, and shared their pasts. But Forest had a feeling Oak would be willing to die for her, and it unsettled her slightly. As pups, they had always stayed together and it seemed that chain would remain unbroken. Now he wasn't as obvious about it, but Forest knew he was still her shadow and where ever she chose to go he would follow. Here, in the place that had been their home for years they were alone. The older wolves had drifted apart, and even the mother had vanished off to some unknown place at one point or another.

But of course, none of that mattered now. The large she-wolf stood and stretched from where she had been laying down, enjoying the first morning rays of new spring. Her brown and black fur was sparkled with dew, and eyes of clear blue gazed at the beautiful sky which was only a bit obscured by a few trees. As she got rid of the sleep her body felt, Forest felt sure today would be the day she would find someone to join her in making this a real pack again. With that thought, the young she-wolf sat on her haunches and waited hopefully to see if anyone might just wander into the clearing looking for a pack, or at least a companion.

[Scout Crest]

When Crest padded through the camp entrance, he couldn't help but notice the paw prints of other, older wolves embedded in the dirt. Crest dropped the small deer he had caught out of his mouth, and looked closer at the prints. Most of them were fading into each other, but a few, fresher ones stood out. He curiously placed his paw into one of them, but his paw was too small. Glancing up, Crest noticed the Alphess and her larger paws. He chuckled, realizing the paw prints were most likely hers, and put the deer into the food pile. The Scout tore off two legs and sheepishly offered one to Forest. He then sat nearby and gnawed on his own deer leg.

Forest accepted the leg with a grin. "So you've had an eventful morning, I see." She said to the Scout, taking a bite. It was a good thing he had thought to bring breakfast, because the she-wolf had been hungry. She had told Oak so when he went out to patrol, but the younger wolf wasn't as good as hunting as he was at fighting and Forest had stayed because she didn't want to leave the camp unguarded. With the scout here, it would be easier to venture out when she wanted to because now the pack was three strong.

It gave Forest hope to see that their 'pack' wasn't just her and her brother any more; though she only faintly remember Crest's parents from her pup-hood, she knew Crest had been born to the pack. She wondered if Crest had met her mother, but couldn't remember. It probably hadn't happened, because her mother had vanished not long before the packs had dispersed. Forest didn't know if her mother was still alive or not, only that if she was she would be very old by now.

She smiled at Crest again, and than hungrily ate the leg before her. She was the new Alphess of the pack because Charmer, her uncle, had made her Betess just before he had gone to search for her mother out of concern. Now that Forest was Alphess, she was determined to make the Pack of Drawing Skies a thriving pack again, and she had no intention to stop trying at just three wolves. She would make the pack larger than it had ever been, and ensure that they stayed that way for as long as they lived.
